How to replace the background photo with your own and adjust the transparency
Why does my image look brighter when I drop my photo into a TST template? How do I add a dark overlay for better contrast on training posts?
How to Replace the Background Image in Canva for Your Training Posts
1️⃣ Upload Your Photo
Click Uploads on the left sidebar in Canva.
Select Upload Files to add your workout photo or branded image.
2️⃣ Replace the Background
Drag and drop your uploaded photo onto the existing background to replace it.
3️⃣ Adjust the Dark Overlay (if needed)
If the dark overlay disappears after replacing your photo, adjust the transparency:
- Click the background image.
- Reduce transparency (start around 60%) and set the background color to black so your text and offers remain clear and easy to read.
4️⃣ Reposition the Photo (if needed)
Double-click the background photo.
Use the zoom toggle to zoom in or out.
Drag the image to reposition your subject or crop out distractions.
5️⃣ Final Adjustments for Readability
If your text overlaps key parts of the photo (like faces, form, or logos), you can:
- Move the text lower on the design.
- Reduce the text size slightly.
- Reposition the background photo for better balance between message and visual.
